		<abstract>When performing any type of analysis involving cartographic products, a fundamental criterion that must be evaluated is the scale for which the products were generated and its use is recommended. Thats because the accuracy of these products will provide one of the indicators of quality of the analysis performed. Therefore, it was proposed to evaluate the altimetric and planimetric accuracy of the SRTM Plus, ASTER GDEM 2 and ALOS World 3D Digital Elevation Models (DEM). The altimetric evaluation was performed based on the Padrão de Exatidão Cartográfica (PEC) and a trend analysis to investigate the existence of systematic errors. Subsequently, a more in-depth evaluation of these models was made with respect to their planimetric accuracy, a question often overlooked in DEM evaluations. For the evaluation of the planimetric accuracy, a comparison of homologous drainage lines between the DEM evaluated and a reference DEM on a larger cartographic scale was made. These drainage lines were used to carry out the necessary assessments according to the established by PEC. The results of the altimetric evaluation shows that all DEM tested can be used with high reliability in the 1: 100.000 scale. However, the performance of the SRTM Plus and ALOS World 3D DEM can be highlighted. Thats because, after the correction of systematic errors, theses DEM were classified in the 1: 25.000 scale according to altimetry. Regarding the planimetric evaluation, all the models were classified in the scale 1: 100.000, with small superiority of SRTM Plus and ALOS World 3D DEM.</abstract>
